How to Find the volume of pyramids in geometry

A pyramid is a three-dimensional figure with a polygonal base and a vertex. The base can be a triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon, or other type of polygon.

The volume of a pyramid is given by the following formula:

V = (Area of the base x h)/ 3

Since the volume of a prism is equal to the product between the area of the base and the height of the prism, the volume of a pyramid can be calculated as one third of the prism's volume (as long as both figures have congruent bases and heights).

The above math video demonstrates how the volume of a square pyramid can be obtained from that of a cube.
